2016.03.05 Hebe Singapore IF Concert
Last Saturday, Hebe completed her last leg of the IF concert world tour in Singapore. Coined version 1.0 by the singer herself, Hebe performed to a roaring 8,000 strong crowd. While she mesmerized the audience with her smooth lustrous voice, the stage sets and lighting added on to create a visual feast for the crowd. Popular hits such as I’m Fine Alone, Love On and It’s Forever and Simple Happiness saw the crowd singing along, instantly turning the stadium into a massive KTV lounge.
The singer performed with much ease whilst the talking segments still proved a tad challenging for her. Despite this, the audience loved her the way she is, laughing along with her during moments of awkward silence and waited for her to find the right words to fit into the sentence. The singer took a jest at herself, saying she felt so courageous speaking so much to a huge crowd at absolutely silent moments.
Perhaps the band knew the singer too well and provided some comic relief of their own to the crowd. As it was the last stop of the concert tour, the band began wearing her 3D masks, used in an earlier segment of the show. Even Hebe could not stop laughing at the sight and even broke off at certain parts of her song Your Happiness Doesn’t Equate to Mine when she had to perform alongside 2 of the guitarists wearing the mask.
The night before the concert, fellow S.H.E band mate, Selina announced her divorce with husband Richard Zhang. At the concert, Hebe did not directly mention the divorce but very skilfully weaved it into one of her last talking segments, before performing the song Inconstancy.
“I think every single one of us is like a droplet of water. In this world, every single droplet is flowing down the river of life. Sometimes the droplets meet, at times some of the droplets will drift along with the river and depart earlier from others; similar to how a relationship may end, due to various reasons. But I think, in the end we will all head towards the ocean, every river will eventually flow towards the ocean, so we will all still meet in the end. Sometimes when a droplet flows into the ocean and is separated from the others, it will still have the Sun shining on it, it will evaporate and then it will rain. So we will all return into the river again. So I think this is a cycle, but in the process, we will meet with uncertainties and constant changes. But I think this is the norm, so we must treasure every day, we must cherish what we have and what we meet with, okay?”
Nearing the end, Hebe reiterated that although this concert stop is the last of its series, but it is merely the end of a beginning. A new tour of the same title, will see some changes in the rundown and begin its rounds later this year.
