Hebe’s second hit, a love ballad, Don’t You Think Of Me (Official: You Better Not Think About Me / 你就不要想起我), from her album ‘Insignificance’, debuted on radio and MTV channel on 25th November. This ballad features the same duo who teamed up for I’m Fine Alone (寂寞寂寞就好), Venk Yang and Shih Jen Chang. Lyricist Shih wanted to use this piece as sequel to totally overturn the feelings and emotions of the preceding song. This song is a more truthful representation of how people really feel when they break up, behind the false front that they try to put up, pretending they are all strong and can move on after some time alone. How strong can one really be in face of the magnificent love and relationship issues, even if a person seems tough on the outside, are they really the same internally? With inspiration from Hebe’s contradicting character, Shih then sought to apply her personality traits, attitude, perspective in life and her causes to the songs in a way that audiences can relate to. Record company HIM always hopes for this song to create the million hits on YouTube as per Hebe’s previous ballads, I’m Fine Alone and Still In Happiness and become a hit k-song (karaoke hit).

During the music video shoot, Hebe had many scenes with the male lead, including one that was shot in the bowling alley. Though, she unfortunately fell at the lane while giving it a shot, laughingly she said, “This must be another falling classic since the one at the news broadcast!”, only to find out later from the crew that the scene was not caught on tape. Hebe was both upset and laughing at herself while explaining, “My colleagues were too focused in finding out if my bowling ball will go down the gutter to even notice that I slipped and fell and even hit my wrist!”. Hebe landed on her bum and eventually sat on the ground, asking if the camera can see the tears in her eyes while exclaiming, “My butt and wrist are both hurting so much! I woke up at 2am today to prepare for the shoot and so did my colleagues head out to work so early to catch some behind the scenes shots, hoping to catch something interesting for a boring and non-newsworthy person like me. Who knew I would land a strike on myself?!” Hebe admittedly said her sports genes have always been pretty good, with the exception of bowling, “Every time I hold the bowling ball in my hand I look so confident, truth is, I always hit the gutter.”

The shoot continued at a riverside park at 7am in the morning, requiring Hebe and the male lead to take a stroll together down the park for shots. “The director was filming at a distance, so we had to walk and skip along the way. We met so many elderly riding on scooters and bikes that didn’t know we were filming. They must have thought we are so stylish and carefree, romantically dating in the early morning.” When the scenes at the park were completed, Hebe stated, “I don’t know how long has it been, since I last walked at a riverside park so openly.” Right after she completed her sentence, she cupped her mouth and ran away from the camera.

To the end of the filming, both leads returned to their ‘home’, where they did hand painting. This triggered memories from Hebe’s past romance, “You know how couples will use pen to draw nonsensical things on each other? It’s like a small intimate act, like how I once used a marker pen and drew a ‘tattoo’ on my other half.”

The music video of Don’t You Think Of Me tells a tale of how Hebe and the male lead missed each other after the breakup, upon sight of bowling and popcorn, reminding them of the times when they used to go bowling and share popcorn together. The lyrics sings, “It’s obvious you love me most / There’s no reason why we can’t last till the end / So long as you can overcome your cowardice / Why must we miss each other like that? / The night is long and fraught with many dreams / Don’t you think of me / At that moment, don’t you come and acknowledge your wrongs.” Hebe expresses that, “This is a melancholy love ballad, where you feel unjust and still missed the times together after the breakup. In the music video, the male lead has a sadder end, because he chose to dump me, yet in the end, he is the one who feels worst. This song is like a gentle curse from someone who’s bitter about the breakup.” The music video is now available on air and YouTube.
